It may feel like winter is going to last forever, but you only have to wait until March for spring! If it’s been a cold and dreary season for you, another month may seem intolerable, especially if you’re digging your car out from snow every morning. While we can’t change the weather, we do have a few hacks to make the rest of the winter season feel a little cozier. From your home, to your clothing, to what you eat, here are a handful of tips on surviving the rest of winter.

Warm Feet = Happy You

It may seem elementary, but when your feet are cold, you are cold. Even indoors, if your toes are icy it’s pretty impossible to feel warm and comfortable – something especially common if your home has wood or stone floors. Lay down area or accent rugs to keep a buffer between your skin and cold surfaces. Not only will it keep you warm, rugs are a fashionable way to tie a room together or add a pop of color or texture. Another great option is to invest in a pair of cushy, fuzzy socks! These can be affordable or expensive, and some even come infused with aloe vera to keep your feet warm and soft. Slippers and socks are Cozy Season must-haves, so add them to your list!

Set The Mood

The mood to be comfy, that is. Once you’ve warmed your home, got your socks on, and stockpiled your blankets, you can really turn your home into a cozy sanctuary with a few extra touches. Soft, warm lighting is pleasant and inviting. If you have bright white bulbs in your light fixtures, consider switching them out for something with lower lumens to dim the room. The brightness of your lighting can have a big impact on the feel of a room, and experimenting with different lighting levels is a great idea any time of the year – but especially during winter, when the days are short and the nights are cold.

Want to leave your lights alone? No worries, you can still easily up your cozy factor. It’s as simple as lighting a candle! A candle – or better yet, a cluster of them – adds softness, ambiance, and of course, warmth! They’re pleasant to look at and you can even choose firewood-scented candles to add another level to your winter wonderland, even if you don’t have a fireplace.

Cozy Companions

We love any excuse to spend time with our friends and family, and this is a good one! There’s nothing better than spending a snowy night with loved ones, enjoying a good meal and gathering around the fire (or the candles). Have a lowkey dinner party and serve cozy classics like spaghetti and meatballs, a creamy soup with bread to dip, or the all-time favorite: warm, spicy chili. Whatever you make, hiding out from wintry weather is always more enjoyable with your favorite people around you.
