Living in a small space doesn’t mean you can’t make it beautiful. Even if you’re living in a small apartment, townhouse or condo, we’ve got some small-space tips and tricks to help you create a cozy home, no matter its size!
Double-Duty Furniture
If you’ve got a small space or just want a clutter-free home, find pieces that can do two jobs. For example, try a hollow ottoman. You can kick your feet up and you’ll love the hidden storage!
Another double-duty option we love is a bed with storage compartments! You can use it to easily store your clothes, shoes or your child’s toys.
Divide it Up
Industrial lofts and open floor plans may be all the rage, but they aren’t always practical in real life. So, if you need some privacy, try using curtains or a free-standing bookshelf to close off an area.

Lighting is Everything
Make your space feel bigger (& brighter) by painting your walls a light neutral or white. Yep, you can actually trick your eyes into thinking a room is larger than it actually is. Since dark colors absorb light they make rooms feel smaller, but light colors reflect light and make it seem larger.
Also, try painting the trim and the walls the same color. Since there are no breaks in the trim, your ceilings will appear taller!
Use Your Walls
Just because you don’t have tons of square-footage doesn’t mean you can’t have it all! If floor space is limited, think about using your walls for additional storage and decor. Most folks forget that walls are good for more than just hanging up pictures, but they really are the unsung heroes of small-space living!
Don’t have space for an entire bookshelf? No problem! Just install some floating wall shelves to store your favorite reads. Another option we love is wall-mounted lighting. Ditch your bedside table and lamp and mount a wall light next to your bed!
