Summertime is great, but the heat… not so much. As the temps start soaring, beat the heat with these cool tips.

Play in the Sprinkler

No pool? No problem. A pool membership or a trip to the waterpark takes some serious $$$. But you don’t have to dish out the cash to have a great time and cool off. Kids of all ages (and adults) will love some good ol’ fashion sprinkler fun.

DIY Air Conditioner

Air conditioners always stop working when you need them most! What’s up with that? If you need a quick fix, try making your own air conditioner. Take a look at this article from WikiHow, all you’ll need is a box fan, some salt, and water bottles. Your kids will love this science experiment!

And if you need a more permanent solution, check out your local Aaron’s or click here to browse our selection of portable AC units. We’re here to help!

Create a Chillow

Are you a cool-side-of-the pillow person? We are, too. There’s something about the other side that just feels soooo much better. And a chillow is like the cool side of the pillow, but cooler! All you need to do is throw a small pillow or stuffed animal in the freezer. Then at night, bring the ice cold pillow to bed. You’ll be snoozing in no time!

Ice Cream Dreamin’

Summertime and ice cream just go together! And if you’re like us, you don’t need an excuse to dig in. But this summer, try making it yourself. Here’s our go-to recipe:

– Whisk 2 cups of heavy cream till it’s fluffy

– Fold the cream into 14 oz of sweetened condensed milk and add vanilla extract to taste

– Once all the ingredients are mixed together, put it in a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 6 hours. You don’t even need an ice cream maker!

It’s that easy. I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream!

Make it a Movie Night

Sometimes the best way to beat the heat is to escape it. And who doesn’t love a good family movie night? Get your popcorn ready, kick up your feet, and press play. And if you really want to cool off,  throw in some of that homemade ice cream. Movies + Ice Cream = Perfect Night.
